Is there an excuse for flat shoes?

Victoria Beckham famously stated "I can't concentrate in flats" and to her credit she has gone from pop icon to mother of four children to designer in an array of show stopping heels!. I am on a mission to get women to fall in love with heels - STOP PRESS; when I say heels, I mean a shoe that has a heel; stiletto or otherwise over 9cms.

I make no apologies for metric system measurements (Google a conversion tool); because in my world....

"Any heel lower than 9cms is basically a sneaker"

I am one of many vertically challenged women who was freed by heels. A friend shorter than my 161cms, said a few years ago "you should wear heels". I took up that challenge, put a pair on...fully committed and never looked down!. I realised after a few years that 9cm heels or below were neither here nor there however a constant challenge is trying to buy heels over 9cms from footwear stores; buying on-line well that's a whole other blog......

Our local designers and to a degree importers seem hell bent on keeping the vertically challenged - well "short"! and just forget tall women, obviously they don't want to be taller (sic) - Wat!. Ask Mi Piaci staff (one of my favorite shoe shops in a sea of limited choice), I call in at the door; they laugh and say, "sorry nothing over 9cm this season"!. My customer feedback obviously stops at the retail counter but a well deserved "shout out" is due to Mi Piaci staff who use rulers to measure heels for me, may the goddess bless you!.

"Speaking of the goddess......"

Think Nike the world's largest manufacturer of athletic shoes and sports apparel; "if you have a body, you are an athlete", really? but you have to agree this slogan is the epitome of demand creation!. A challenge to our designers and importers, data mine your customer's experience; you might be surprised or create the demand for heels over 9cms; afterall Nike "just did it"!.

Lets start at the beginning so we can reduce the excuses.... Justine Leconte, a French fashion designer, trained at Parsons and living in Germany knows a thing or two about shoes (11.21) and follow my pinterest for some serious heel porn!.
